Detailed information can be found on the websites of the British Board of Film Classification and the Pan European Game Information websites, but as a summary & general guideline, the following infromation will shed some light on the symbols used throughout the website:

The BBFC is an independent British body that uses minimum ages to categorise films and PC and video games.
U: The movie or game is suitable for people of all ages.
PG or Parental Guidance: The movie or game may need to be pre-approved by a parent before they allow their young children to watch/play it.
12: The movie or game is unsuitable for anyone younger than 12. It may have moments of mild violence and swear words. By placing an order for a game bearing this rating via this website, you declare that you are 12 years of age or over.

It may have a fairly adult theme or contain mature content, language and violence which, while not being particularly graphic, is unsuitable for younger teenagers. 18: the film or game is only suitable for adults (persons aged 18 or over). It has an adult theme and contains strong scenes of sex or violence that could be quite graphic. It may also contain some very explicit language and scenes of narcotic use. By placing an order for a game bearing this rating via this website, you declare that you are 18 years of age or over.
PEGI Ratings:
The PEGI age-rating system is designed to ensure that minors are not exposed to games that are unsuitable for their age group. These symbols are as follows:

What is the digital switchover?

By 2012, all TV services in the UK will be completely digital. This is known as the digital switchover.
The UK's old television broadcast signal (known as "analogue") is being switched off and replaced with a “digital” signal. This means that any TV set that’s not converted to digital when the switchover takes place will no longer receive TV programmes. Most modern Television sets should already be able to receive the digital signal, so you don't need to replace your existing TV. You will, however, need a digital box (via aerial, satellite dish or cable). These start from £9.99 and upwards and vary in durability and capabilities. Wherever you see that tick on the Product Detail Page of digital receivers, it means that the receiver is ready for the Digital Switchover.
